How it works
With a meter, a generator bill has two parts: the energy you used (kWh times the price per kWh) and a fixed monthly fee that depends on your subscription, usually 5 or 10 amperes. With a flat subscription, you pay a price per ampere and there is no meter.
The Ministry of Energy and Water publishes a reference tariff every month for private generators: a price per kWh and fixed fees by amperes, with a different price for villages and areas above 700 metres. It appears on the ministry's prices page and in the Lebanese press around the end of each month. Enter the tariff for the month you are checking; this page does not know it.
Your kWh used is the new meter reading minus the previous one. Most bills print both.
Worked example (August 2026)
For August 2026, the ministry published 48,241 LBP per kWh for metered subscribers in cities, dense areas and places below 700 metres, with a fixed monthly fee of 385,000 LBP for 5 amperes (685,000 LBP for 10 amperes). This was reported on 2026-08-31. It is an example: use the tariff for your own month.
A home on 5 amperes that used 200 kWh in August 2026: 200 times 48,241 is 9,648,200 LBP of energy, plus the 385,000 LBP fee, so 10,033,200 LBP in total. Tap "Load the August 2026 example" to see it in the calculator.
Where the tariff comes from
We checked the August 2026 tariff on 2026-09-26 in the report below. Above 700 metres and in villages the August price per kWh was 53,065 LBP. The ministry sets a new tariff every month, mostly following the price of diesel, so the August figures will not match other months.

Where do I find this month's generator tariff?
The Ministry of Energy and Water publishes it every month on its website (prices section, generator tariffs), and Lebanese news sites report it the same day. Make sure you take the right line: city or village, below or above 700 metres, and your amperes.
Why does my bill not match the estimate?
Check the kWh (new reading minus old), that you used the tariff for the right month and the right zone, and the fixed fee for your amperes. Some operators round, add a collection fee, or bill at a different rate. If the gap is large, ask your operator to show the calculation.
I pay a flat amount per ampere. Does this work?
